Newbie, sorry to hear you had to endure that. Was the pain all the time, or just when you pee? Also, did you experience pain at the time of the sounding or just later?
The only two things I can think of are urinary tract infection or micro-tearing of the urethra. If you were diligent on the sterilization side, as seems to be the case, I’d suspect the latter. In most cases the pain or discomfort from micro-tearing goes away within a few days or so. The only suggestion I can make is not to go too big too soon and use plenty of lube, not just quantity-wise, but with frequency. Lube can dry out pretty quickly, so you’ve got to re-apply.
Also would be curious what type of sounding rod did you use?
